Snowball: The Light That Started It All

Twenty years ago, we launched our very first product, the Snowball lamp. Designed by none other than gourmet chef and design aficionado Trond Svendgård, it marked the beginning of what would become Northern.

“We still remember those early days: walking from store to store, architect to architect, carrying the prototype in hand and pitching it as the start of something bigger. We asked people to take a chance on a young Oslo-based brand, and to our great fortune, many of them did”.

With its clean lines and frosted glass shade, Snowball quickly found its place in people’s homes. Influenced by classic Bauhaus design, the lamp resonated far and wide. Over the years, the lamp evolved into a full series, including a floor version and several carefully selected colour options, always staying true to the spirit of the original.

Two decades later, Snowball is still going strong. It reminds us of where we came from and continues to light the way forward.
